New Paper - Carbohydrate Ingestion on Exercise Metabolism and Physical Performance

This paper has being all over social media this week. I discuss the interpretation and my own thoughts on this thought provoking review.

This new publication by Noakes et al. (2026) has been all over social media, with some saying that the ‘carb loading myth is dead’. Here I run through some of the misinterpretations of this review, as well as my own thoughts on the key claims.

This just happens to be very closely related to my PhD thesis work, so it was good to see it come to many similar conclusions, though as I discuss in the video, there are areas that I differ in my thoughts - all discussed above.

Please do let me know you thoughts on this longer form content, I enjoy the ability to go deeper into topics like this with much more context, so if it’s something you enjoyed please let me know (likewise if you fell asleep after 5 minutes please let me know, it’ll be good to get an idea as to whether this longer form content has value!).

Thanks for reading The Science of Endurance! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
